I hope your weekend is going swimmingly. Mine has been kind of unconventional because I’m old now and I have a job that requires me to well, work
Friday night, two of my friends and I devoured a vegetarian platter-for-three of Ethiopian food at Ghenet in Brooklyn.

Have you ever had Ethiopian food? I love it.
My two favorite things about it are injera, the bread and berbere, the combination of spices that flavors Ethiopian food.
Injera is made out of teff, a grain that grows in the highlands of Ethiopia. It’s practically void of gluten, which gives it a spongy, sourdough like consistency. It is also used as a utensil – you scoop the food up with the bread.
Berbere is a blend of deliciousness like red chili powder, onion, ginger, garlic and different herbs and spices.
On the plate above, you see a selection of different vegetarian dishes: spiced beans, lentils, cabbage, potatoes & carrots, green beans, pureed peas and collard greens. Delicious but impossible to finish.
On Saturday, I went to the office…I had some work to catch up on, since I just found out I’ll be traveling this week.
Here’s my desk! It’s messy but I swear there’s a logic to this chaos.
Why is my wallpaper a shark, you might ask…Well, besides the fact that sharks are awesome, my dad calls my brother “the finance shark” and I’m the “journalism shark.”
It’s to keep me motivated.

And some desk flare:

Lunch was from Flavors in the conference room:

A salad of epic proportions:

At least I have a beautiful view!

For dinner, a friend and I got some sushi.

Today, I’m planning to relax a little bit and have an early bedtime…Driving to D.C. at 4:45 am for a conference tomorrow!
But we’ll be staying at a really fancy hotel & convention center:

I’m looking forward to it.
Hope you’re enjoying these last days of summer!

I’ll be honest, I’ve never have had Ethiopian food…It looks incredible!
Mmm I love Ethiopian food–so many colors and flavors to sample!
I’ve never had Ethiopian Food – it looks good!
I love your view. It’s so nice you can see the river!
OMG I’ve had Flavors’ salads so many times in the 3 years I’ve been working at my job. I also enjoy their omelets which I make the guys put in a wrap with hot sauce.
The unlimited add-ins are the best! And my co-workers always order breakfast from there. That sounds amazing
Ethiopian food always looks so good! I’ve had it twice, and both times, I thought it was weird. I don’t like the sour-ness of the injera, but I’m always willing to try it again! I do love saucy vegetables and bread…
