I really liked hearing about your family’s workout habits on my last post. You got some active families! Good times.
Today was a good day for me. Did you have a good day? I had a bunch of interviews and everyone I talked to was really nice and funny. It reminded me of why I fell in love with journalism in the first place: I get to talk to people I probably never would have otherwise, like a purchasing manager at a hospital in Indiana or a medical gloves manufacturer in Indonesia. It’s sweet.
I changed up my oatmeal this morning a little. I topped it with blueberries and almond butter. Rebel, rebel.

While eating my lunch at my desk, I wanted to pat myself on the back and say, “Good job, Olga! What an amazing sandwich combination you’ve created.”
Please, who am I kidding? I was saying that while photographing it for you this morning

THE sandwich: goat cheese, cucumber slices, spinach and dries cranberries (key) on toasted multigrain bread. So good!
The rest of my lunch & snacks are chillin’ in the back:

I enjoy this VerryBerry Chobani flavor. It’s really creamy and not too sweet. This Lite Kettle Corn from TJ’s is pretty awesome too. It’s such a tasty and simple snack. Plus, it’s conveniently portioned out for those of us with no self-control <———
When I got home, I saw a box on my doorstep that said this on the side:

Yeah right, I thought. YEAAAHHHH RIGGHTT.
Impossible. Also, I had no idea what the hell it was. But then I opened the box to discover Galaxy Granola galore:

The wonderful people at Galaxy Granola sent me these treats for a taste test. I don’t say no to granola. Especially the kind that’s baked with fruit, cutting out the oil and thus fat. Formal review to come soon!
Turns out I wasn’t the only one who came home with treats.
My mom walked into the house a few minutes later, ridiculously excited about these enormous strawberries she found:

My dad followed soon after with his own purchases:

Beer, obviously, and dried cranberries + walnuts for his morning oatmeal. Nice.
For dinner, I wanted to have a vegetable party for my body. It was wild:

Stir-fry: red onion, garlic, red cabbage, broccoli, tomato, spinach. Plus, a portobello “burger” drizzled with balsamic vinegar and topped with Parmesan cheese. Baller.
And if you didn’t think that I ate one of those gigantic strawberries for dessert, ya must be crazay.
I totally did. And it was so sweet and delicious. Kinda scary how good it was, actually.

I’m off to the gym with my bro in half an hour. I’ve never done the whole “eat dinner, then go work out” thing so we’ll see how it goes down.
What food product do you come home with most frequently?
I probably purchase spinach most often because it doesn’t last long and I eat like half a bag in one meal
Tomorrow’s already Wednesday, lovelies. Rejoice!

Amazing day of eats!

Oh, and by the way – I just nominated you, Olga!
Check that on my blog – you just received an award for beeing a creative writer
Have fun!
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
that sammy does sound like a killer combo!
My, that IS one amazing sandwich. Bravo.
Ahhh I always wondered if that TJ’s popcorn was good!! I’ve tried their salty ones and it’s WAYYY too salty.
I hope the workout after dinner fared well with you!! Perhaps a new routine soon?
YES, that popcorn is fantastic, perfect mix of sweet and salty! I recommend it.
Oh yummy! I love getting free stuff!
I probably buy the in season fruit most. Like this winter I’ve been buying gads of grapefruit because they’re cheap and so tasty this time of year.
I come home with fruit smoothies like Naked Juice most often.
Galaxy Granola had e-mailed me too to partner up with them, but their products sounded too diety for my taste, and that’s the last thing I want. Can’t wait to hear how you like it!
I congratulate myself on meals all the time
Hmm….lately, I buy dried fruit/nuts/trail mixes AND broccoli most often.
Love the goods your family came home with! I buy spinach and apples every single day it seems. I go through a ton!
Goats cheese + fruit = amazing.
Someone needs to dip those berries in some chocolate stat! That’s what the stems are for!
Produce I come home with most often? Hrm, that’s a tough one. Maybe mixed greens? Since Scott and I have salads everyday we blow through that stuff quick!
haha I love that everyone in your family brought home some sort of treat!
I’ve been bringing apples home more and more frequently…I just LOVE them and usually eat at least 2 a day!
oh man, i know those strawberries…we used to use stemmed ones like that when i worked at the chocolate store and dipped them in various chocolates…we sold those puppies for almost $7 a pop. oh yeah…i ate them for free.
and most of the time i always come home with apples or bananas. staple in my diet.
feel free to boast all you want about that sandwich combo, it’s off the chain.
I don’t know if I’ve ever left the grocery store without greek yogurt. It consumes me. (or rather, I consume it?!)
Wow, that sandwich combo does seriously sound amazing. I need to try cranberries and cheese. Sounds weird but good and the same time!
I agree with the spinach. I seriously could use the whole bag in one meal! I want to start making green monsters but then I’d need to buy like 4 bags a week. Not very budget conscious
Spinach, spinach, and more spinach. Fresh berries right now too.
The most frequent visitor to my kitchen would have to be bananas. They go brown so quickly, but fortunately, I’m able to go through a bunch in less than a week via oatmeal, toast, snacks, etc.
I love your veggie packed dinner! As well as that mondo-sized strawberry. Looks perfectly ripe and sweet.
I need to go back to Trader Joes. Sure, it may be incredibly out of my way…but an out-of-borough grocery trip is worth it for individual baggies of kettle corn.
I always come home with potatoes
I love potatoes!!!! I also love dried cranberries all on there own. So simple but so tasty!
Have an awesome Wed!
AH!! Is it strawberry season already? Those look amazingly juicy and perfectly ripe!
These days, I come home with a LOT of cabbage…at 5 lbs for $1, it’s a steal!
I had the same question when I my mom brought those home. Is it strawberry season already? I guess somewhere warm it is…
Cabbage is delicious. I told someone I loved it the other day, and they were like “how can you LOVE cabbage?” …How can you not?
I love when you mention your dad, there is a picture of some fun beverage lol
I can’t work out without having dinner first and am in the habit of dinner, working out, post workout snack. It’s the way I are.
Food product would be some kind of munchy product from TJ’s like tortilla chips, popcorn, trail mix, etc. I can’t resist the power of TJ’s!
