Wow. This snow’s not kidding.
It played all pretty and nice this morning:

Then it escalated in the late hours of the afternoon:

It’s past 9 p.m. right now and it’s still going:

Talk about a winter wonderland. I wanted to frolic outside all day! But somehow watching numerous episodes of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia on Hulu in my warm bed seemed more appealing
I woke up starving for some reason and beasted on this like Taz over here. Except you know, I’m blonde:

Ricotta & banana oats with chia seeds. A.k.a. heaven in a jar.
Lunch included a cup of grandma’s borscht:

And a salad: mixed greens, shredded carrots, beets & tomato basil feta:

Snack face appeared later. I treated it with an orange:

For dinner, I consulted my new cooking bible: How to Cook Everything Vegetarian by Mark Bittman. I made his “Easiest Bean Burgers,” using chickpeas. This burger was the best homemade veggie burger I’ve ever made. You can’t see me, but I’m bowing to Mr. Bittman.
Served on a Thomas Light Multigrain English muffin with a Babybel Cheddar wedge. And what’s a burger without fries? Butternut squash fries, that is:

I had two pieces of dark sea salt chocolate for dessert. But no time for pictures when chocolate is involved, you understand.
Now that we’ve taken care of business, it’s time for the super exciting news:
If you’ve been reading the blog for some time, then you know that the past few months haven’t been so easy for me. I graduated college a semester early and was anxious to find a job as soon as possible.
I wrote endless cover letters and sent out my resume to dozens of places. A few weeks ago, this pattern was interrupted when I had to switch gears from cover letters to:

Interview mode! I recently heard back from one company that I applied to a month ago. Interestingly enough, it was the job that I wanted the most out of all my applications.
So for the past few weeks, I’ve been going through a hiring process for a reporter position at a magazine that covers health care issues and the medical industry.
I had to:
- Interview with the editor-in-chief and provide writing samples
- Meet with the President of the company and “reverse interview” him about the company (on my birthday!)
- Write a company profile based on the interview I conducted to demonstrate writing ability
Upon the successful completion of the aforementioned steps, the editor chose the reporter he wanted to hire…
AND I GOT THE JOB! He offered me the position earlier this week, and I took it.
So I got my first, post-graduation job! I start 9 to 5:30-ing next Wednesday. I’m really excited about this job because it combines my passion for writing with my interest in health care. YEAH!
The office is located in the Financial District, right next to the famous Charging Bull. There are more perks that come with the position that I’ll reveal later on
Obviously, the new schedule will bring some ch-ch-ch-changes to eating & exercise routines:
- Packed lunch every day
- Probably lots of leftovers for dinner
- Gym trips after work
I’ll try to keep this blog somewhat exciting…I’m sure it’s going to be a tough adjustment at first but I am just as excited as I am nervous. So it’s cool.
Until I dive into the work world, I’m straight up loungin’ yo. Oh, and buying work clothes. Woohoo.
