When you rip into your Secret Bloggie Valentine package as if it were a Christmas gift:

My wonderful package came from a reader named Laura. Yes, your eyes aren’t fooling you. You are seeing a heart-shaped PEZ dispenser. And a Starbucks gift card. And sea salt dark chocolate. Seriously, did I luck out or what?! Thank you so much Laura!
You know you’re a foodie when you make an enormous chocolate protein pancake for breakfast and laugh while eating it because it looks like steak…

Topped with creamy PB & shredded coconut
When while at the gym, you’re looking forward to having the same delicious salad you ate yesterday for lunch again.
When you blow off a nap for a snack:

Chopped apple, cottage cheese & cinnamon
Okay…so maybe just delay the nap
You know you’re a foodie when you use a recent restaurant visit as inspiration for dinner. The ramen noodle bowl that I had at Ippudo was incredible. Tonight, I made an outrageously delicious equivalent:

For the ramen base, I used a new product I picked up at the Asian supermarket recently, yam noodles!

Ingredients: yam flour, water, calcium hydroxide
These are 50 calories per half a package serving and they provide 8 grams of fiber. They are virtually tasteless, which means they take on the taste of whatever you decide to smother them in…they reminded me of the tofu noodles I had recently, except that I liked their texture better. You can read more about yam noodles here.
What I used:
- 1 cup reduced sodium chicken broth
- 2 TBS light soy sauce
- lots of ginger
- chili powder & red pepper flakes
- 1 yellow carrot
- steamed broccoli
- edamame
- Trader Joe’s Chicken Cilantro Mini Wontons
- Scallions for garnish
I brought the veggies & broth to a boil. In a separate bowl, I poured the soy sauce on top of the yam noodles, which soaked it right up. Then I threw them into the broth and cooked them on medium heat for about 5 minutes. I pan fried the mini wontons and then just put them in the broth at the last minute of cooking.
I didn’t want this bowl of goodness to end. The noodles were warm and soy-saucey. The broth was gingery and spicy. Mmmmm. I will definitely make this again!

And lastly, you know you’re a foodie when while in between OOOOoooosss and MMMMMMMmmmmsss, you’re thinking, “Damn, I can’t wait to blog about this!”
How do you know you’re a foodie?
P.S. Come back tomorrow night for some super exciting news!

You now you’re a foodie when the thought of breakfast is what gets you out of bed! Did the noodles taste like yams?
The noodles didn’t taste like yams at all! They tasted like absolutely nothing, until I poured soy sauce on them and cooked them in the broth with spices. They were absolutely delicious.
Oh man…those noodles look so good! I’ve been wanting some ramen lately…i’ll have to find an asian market and look for those!!!
And I know I’m a foodie when I rip open packages too…and when I take pictures with pb bottles on top of my head. who does that!? oh yeah, ME.
I know I am a foodie when…
-I check the mailbox twice a day for my secret bloggie valentine…
-Going to a new restaurant is more exciting than going to the Zoo was for me as a child =D
-I left college 3/4 of the way through to go to CULINARY SCHOOL!

I know I’m a foodie because I came home from the bars and the first thing I did was cook up three gourmet sausages my fam has as leftovers in the ‘fridge. And I LOVED them all!!
I knew I was a foodie when I realized that I hum to myself while I bake bread. My mom found it oddly amusing that baking bread is therapeutic to me, I just thought it was normal
