I apologize for not posting yesterday. The whole day was very Twilight Zone-esque. The weather was crappy, I was extremely sleep-deprived and had to write a paper attempting to legally define torture (fun topic, eh?)
Instead, I ended up running in the cold (what was I thinking?), falling asleep immediately after showering and waking up starving a few hours later, in a very disoriented state of mind and with not one sentence of my paper written…
Let’s not even talk about how I had a bowl of cereal for dinner and am still grappling with how the hell I’m supposed to define torture if the freakin’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights can’t even do it. To be fair, the classes that are the biggest pain in the ass turn out to be the best ones in the end.
But what’s the lesson here? Sleep is awesome. And I should get more of it.
So, after an epic nap after class today, I had fun dinner plans. I don’t know about you guys, but my craving for warm, comforting foods in the fall increases as the temperature drops. Tonight was definitely a chili kind of night.
Amy brought amazing spicy-sweet peppers from her garden

And homemade canned tomatoes

We also made the perfect compliment to chili, homemade corn bread:

Oh, and….beer

MMMmmmmmm…

Topped with TJ’s European Style Greek yogurt:

Just when I thought I couldn’t eat anymore, Amy reminded us of the desserts she brought from a local Puerto Rican bakery. We also had leftover chocolate chip cheesecake that Liz’s mom made over the weekend.
Next to the cheesecake is a piece of a cheese filled pastry and that jelly filled thing? It’s filled with guava. AMAZING.

After all of this, I feel like I’m in a serious food coma. So.Much.Food. Good thing I had wonderful friends to eat it with
Who did you share your last meal with?

I agree … sleep does wonders!!
There’s really nothing better than eating wonderful food with wonderful friends! : )
That does sound disorienting – but kinda bomb!
My last meal was shared with my car. As in, I ate in the car, as if that wasn’t clear
I vote colleges implement “nap time” .. just sayin. Hope you catch some z’s, Olga!
I unwillingly shared my breakfast with my dog the other day – he got into my peanut butter when I went to brush my teeth.
Yeah man, as much as I’ve warmed up to raw food lately (oxy moron), the cold weather brings major cravings for chili, cornbread, thick soups, winter squash…I have no problem satisfying those cravings. Your chili must have been seriously good!
Oh and don’t think I missed that pumpkin ice cream in your last post. That looked epic. (I made homemade raw vegan ice cream this morning and it’s now in the freezer – no ice cream maker – here’s hoping it’s half as good as yours!)
everything looks delish!!
i shared my last meal with my roomies ! haha
Ohmigosh… guava! Sounds fabulous.
I spent my last meal with my mom + dad, in the kitchen- they were eating their fish dinner + i was eating my version… atop a HUGE healthy salad =)

I was thinking about chili just the other day! Looks so delicious. I think it’s about time to fire up my crockpot and devour all those hearty yummy Fall meals.
Mmm that dinner sounds perfect for fall.
My sister spent all last summer working for an NGO and writing blog posts/book reviews on torture. Fun summer job, right?
Last meal was shared w/ my friend Visnja (sour cherry) !!
Looks great- I LOVE cornbread. Borderline obsession
I live alone so most of my meals are on my own… I had lunch with my mom last Friday and we are having dinner tomorrow. And I’ll have company next week in NYC!
Can’t wait to meet you! How long are you in the city for?..
chili, cornbread, and beer is like the perfect meal.

i’m loving all the chili and cornbread i’ve been seeing – i need to make my own version soon. i always crave warm comfort food as the weather drops too.
currently i’m eating breakfast and sharing it with my…computer. but i’m ok with that haha.
Ahhh, fresh hot peppers from the garden? That’s so cool! I have a little pepper plant, but the peppers are ornamental, I think.
I’ve had guava pastry before. It’s really good!
And my last meal? (At first, that sounded really morbid.) I ate Thai with my running buddy.
Sleep is awesome! And that sounds like a really interesting class.
