I can almost taste it

…the bittersweet flavor of the approaching classes.

I still don’t have interwebs at my house but I’m lucky enough to have tons of places around me that provide wireless access. Currently, I’m blogging from Cushman Market and Cafe, with a skinny au lait by my side:

I am trying to squeeze out the last juices out of my summer, since classes don’t start until Tuesday. One thing I’ve been enjoying is the post-run dose of farm fresh, chocolate milk:

Not gonna lie, I thought about this for the whole duration of my run.

I’ve also been spending a lot of time with my prof before academic madness ensues us both. She invited me over for dinner on Thursday night. Her adorable granddaughter Lucia was also there.

We enjoyed some salad, rice & shrimp+zucchini in a ginger-lime sauce:

I also used this recipe to make low-fat banana bread for our dessert. This was really good and I’ll be sure to make it again. I excluded the oil and it still came out great:

Did you know the crack in the top of the bread means that baking soda did its job?

More importantly, it’s kid-taste-approved:

My favorite space at my prof’s house is her meditation corner. Isn’t it awesome?

This morning, my roommates and I hit up the Amherst Farmer’s Market.

I didn’t leave empty handed! I got some amazing cheese:

Heirloom tomatoes (which cost a fortune but I couldn’t help myself :) )

And beautiful swiss chard:

I think tonight we might be going to get some Puerto Rican food and I’m beyond excited! I’m off to enjoy my last few days of freedom.

Sorry for the lack of pizazz in the last few posts, I swear my life will seem more exciting when I’ll have permanent access to internet (and your blogs!)

What one fruit or vegetable do you wish was in season all year round?

sounds like you are having a blast getting into back to school mode, I love those first few days before classes begin when you can just hang out and relax without even needing to think about homework!

I wish peaches were always in season. It’s so hard to find sweet, ripe but not rotting (yuck!) peaches!

Sister we were totally on the same brain waves! At whole foods, part of my stash I brought home included rainbow swiss chard, local cheese, and heirloom toms! Score! I’m totally looking forward to a nice simple salad with the tomatoes. MMMMM

Wow I feel like kicking something. Every time I’m about to post my comment my internet randomly goes out. oh well…all I wanted to say is that I’ve fallen in love with fresh tomatoes this summer and I kind of wish their season wouldn’t end because it’s a new and exciting food-love of mine.

Hey, I kinda like this on-the-go blogging thing–it keeps things interesting, like Where’s Waldo, or something.
All those raspberries are so beautiful–perfect gems.
I wish pomegranates and cherries were available year round!
