Makes me feel like a madman on the run…
Ah, sorry, I got carried away. I just bought the latest Yeah Yeah Yeahs album and I can’t stop listening to it!

H.O.T. Celebrate Brooklyn this summer perhaps? I’d probably melt from happiness
Oh yeah, this is a food blog! Back to my element:
I wanted to switch breakfast up this morning and ended up with a March of the Pecans across a purple sea
After Tina blogged about April being National Pecan Month, I decided to honor the nut via my meal adventures.

In the mix: 1/3 cup Hodgson Mill Multi Grain Hot Cereal with Flaxseed & Soy, 3/4 cup water, 1 cup frozen blueberries, 2 TBS Hemp Protein powder, 1/2 a small banana
The lowdown on the new product:

The texture is very different from the usual oatmeal, less chewy and creamy. I like the nutritional stats and it’s a nice switch up from the usual, once in a while. However, I think mixing oats and this hot cereal is going to be the best use of this product. The plus side? I don’t have to add ground flax seed to it. I’d try it if you were looking for a different texture than oatmeal but similar benefits.
I contemplate not posting lunch sometimes because it’s just so boring. Fo’ serious.

The LAST two pieces of my Arnold's Double Fiber bread (umm...can you tell
) with almond butter & banana slices. Paired with a cup of coffee. Consumed over homework in the library.

With more flavorful protein
My snack consisted of a carrot, an apple and two dates.

See what I mean?! I need a lunch revamp.
Anyway, today was beautiful out and I was so eager to finally use my new Garmin…that is, until I read the directions to discover that I needed to charge it for three hours first. DEUCE!
So I logged 3.5 miles on the treadmill and did a 20 minute strength workout instead. I had my window open so some of the sun got on me. It felt super!
But then I was hungry. I started off dinner with some spinach & grape tomatoes.

And for the main course: 3/4 cup milled groats, some grilled chicken & steamed broccoli with Parmesan:

Clearly, dessert was in order. The rest of that juicy cantaloupe. It tasted like summer

We’re going out to a bar tonight but only for a little bit. Liz has her Arabic exam tomorrow (yes, she plays the banjo and is learning Arabic, I know how to pick my roommates
) and I have lots of health care policy related meetings to attend, which are even more tedious with a hangover.
Before I go, I have to share Kate Perry with you. Ukrainified Kate Perry.
Check it!
Olga out!

You oats look so delish. And I love that photo!
(did I say “record” enough?)
I need to get that record, asap!!! Their last record is one of my favorite running records of all time!

HAPPY FRIDAY!
I’ve never heard of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Obviously their not playing in the UK. I’ll have to check them out on LastFM.com
I LOVE their new album!! can’t stop listening to it!
No way–I had purple hot cereal today too. Yours looks way better though–love those pecans!
I absolutely adore the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I wouldn’t mind if you posted about more of your favorite bands. It’s always great to get some new ideas. Do you listen to The Kills? They’re pretty similar to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I saw them live and the absolutely rocked. Plus the guitarist is dating Kate Moss so he’s pretty much awesome.
I speak Latin and play the clarinet. I’m not kidding (for once). Can we be friends now?
OH MY GOD OLGA, I WORSHIP THE YEAH YEAH YEAHS.
Lovin’ the eats too, your oatmeal is too cute. Let us know how you like the Garmin; I’m in the market for a heart rate monitor myself!
my dream is to see them in Brooklyn. MY DREAM. I’ve heard the new album and I was skeptical at first (where are the killer guitar solos? where are Karen’s primal and gloriously suggestive screams?) but it’s definitely grown on me. “Soft Shock” is my fave on the album
HA. I love the pecan march. Cute!
And thank you for Ukrainifiying my night. That’s completely hilarious! Those guys are just ROCKIN it
Love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Haven’t heard the new album yet. How is it?
Olga out? As in Seacrest out??! hahaha I have always wanted to end a post with that, but I’m not cool enough yet…but you definitley are!
Don’t even worry about the boring lunches, it’s impossible to pack exciting meals on the go for between classes!!
Your breakfast, dinner and dessert look veryyy fun though!
We would clearly get along well. Love your taste in music. Do you like the White Stripes too?
National pecan month, Yayyyy! (“Boooo,” says Harrison.)
Ukranian Katy Perry makes my day! Whur did you find that?
your breakfast looks SO cool!
I don’t know the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Da Da Das?), because I am out of touch. However, I have “Shake it like a saltshaker” in m head now.
I almost fell asleep looking at your lunch. Just kidding! The ends of bread are soooo good
