Okay, okay, I realize this is a food blog, but how many of you saw Obama on Jay Leno last night (or online today?
) I thought he balanced the gravity of our economy and the customary humor of the late night show really well! My love for him is endless!

Isn't he so cute?!
Okay moving on to food now. This morning, I had two new products in my breakfast.

a nf banana creme yogurt, fresh strawberries, 1/2 a cup of each cereal and my forbidden food challenge item: mango ice cream!
I can get used to eating ice cream like this
Product #1:

Ingredients: Whole Oat Flour, Unsulphured Molasses, Whole Wheat Flour, Ground Almonds, Wheat Germ, Baking Soda, Sea Salt, Natural Flavor, Vitamin C, Natural Vitamin E (Mixed Tocopherols [Soy] Added To Maintain Freshness).
Nutrition: 220 cals per 1 cup serving. 6 grams fiber, 7 grams protein, 15 grams sugar. You can check out more detailed nutritional information here.
My take: Well, Barbara’s Bakery has never disappointed me and this time was no different. The crunch is excellent, the amazing vanilla taste comes first and then the almond steps in as I chew on it. I would certainly buy this again (although probably only if it’s on sale, since I liked it but PB Puffins still win over, my cereal splurge
) I think it would also make an excellent snack to pack along with nuts and dry fruit.
Product #2:

Ingredients: Organic whole oat flour, organic Kamut® Brand flour, organic evaporated unrefined cane juice, organic wheat flour, organic whole spelt flour, organic barley flour, organic barley malt extract, organic millet flour, organic quinoa flour, organic honey and a trace of sea salt.
Nutrition:

My take: I was instantly impressed by the amazing ingredients list. The cereal itself has a very “grainy” taste, which I always appreciate! The crunch is awesome and it doesn’t get all soggy easily. I think it’s a great mix-in cereal, a solid high fiber base to mix with others. It was on sale at WF, but I’d buy it regular price too!
I spent the day hanging out with my mom and we did some baking. For lunch, I had a fantastic salad. I feel like I haven’t had greens in a while!

baby spinach, 2 slices of roasted turkey breast deli meat, goat cheese, edamame, a small apple & fresh strawberries

Followed by some juicy grapes
I’m going out to dinner with a friend but I have a special post I’ve been working on for you later on tonight. Also coming up in the next few days is another one of my family’s recipes. I’ll give you a hint

And seriously, if you haven’t seen our President hanging out with Jay Leno, you should watch it and let’s talk about it

I love both of your new cereals! I really LOVE cereal so I should try these!
Wasn’t that the episode where Obama bashed Special Olympics? Not cool!
Ooh I am so going to google that! I can’t believe I didn’t know he was on. I’m Canadian and I love the guy!
The barbara’s vanilla almond looks so good. But oh no! Not another cereal to be obsessed with!
Seriously, Obama is a hottie. Even if I didn’t adore his policy I would totes hit on him in a bar!

Yay, I’m looking forward to the family recipe!
Haha I watched it on Hulu this morning – that starburst memory made me laugh out loud. hahaha cute!
I’m leaving work a little early (no time for hulu) but I’ll watch it tomorrow and we can discuss!
I, too, am in love with our sweet, wonderful, adorable Prez and first fam.
I can’t wait for the recipe!
How many women have the hots for our prez after that one? Stupid Susie Orman was going off on the Today show about how it was a waste of our nation’s resources to pay for secret service, etc. for him to appear. Shut up, he was awesome!!!! I especially love how his girls were stoked about the Starburst on the airplane. That would totally be me. “You mean, I can have as much of this as I want?!?”
Great product reviews and gorgeous cake!!
mmmmmm, mango ice cream for breakfast!! brilliant use of the ff challenge
i missed obama last night, but that pic you have is SO cute!
