The ghetto frugal way to cure shin splints:

Now before you jump to conclusions and call me lazy for sitting on the couch on Friday night with frozen vegetables to ease the pain in my shins, observe: I also supported a local business:

It’s made with real raspberries (fruit serving, check) and is also 9% ALC but it’s FRESH and LOCAL, see?
I also had a sip of this because the name sounded like it could cure any ailment, but it was crap:

It was a fine Friday night.
I was getting kind of sick of oatmeal, like many other bloggers, so I switched it up this morning:

1/2 cup TJ's European Style nf yogurt, 1/3 cup H2H, frozen blueberries & flax.

And a fantastic blood orange
I spent the whole day doing case briefs, a very mind numbing exercise in legal interpretation that basically makes me never want to attend law school (don’t tell my mom). I was on a roll with my briefing, so I forgot to photograph lunch! But it was nothing special: a little less than 1/2 cup of chili, a light Multigrain English muffin, 1/2 cup ff cottage cheese & 1/2 a nanner.
I finally finished briefing by dinner time and decided to use that shrimp my wonderful mommy gave me. I sauteed it in 1 TBS of Smart Balance Light buttery spread, some lemon juice, parsley flakes and black pepper. I also added steamed broccoli, asparagus and yellow bell pep.

For dessert, I nuked a small chopped apple with cinnamon and nutmeg, with a side of Pam Anderson PB because you know, I didn’t get my fix of it this morning
That hit the spot.

Thank you for all your advice and sympathy on the shin splints situation. My legs are less swollen today and definitely feel better. I’m sad I can’t run but I know I need to take care of myself to avoid further injuries.
I’m going to spend the rest of the night doing more homework and catching up on LOST, The Office and 30 Rock…I’m basically homework-bound until next weekend, when it’s finally spring break. I can hardly wait! I get to go to Brooklyn and meet bloggers at an NYC Blogger Brunch Meet Up! Anyone else going?

lol i love your ghetto icing!
and hey olga, i FINALLY updated my bloggy roll and added your amazingness! I am rediculously late. Just thought I’d let you know!
I hope you are feeling better soon! That yogurt bowl sounds like a great alternative to oatmeal.

Shin splints suck. I get shin splints when I speed walk. I usually just rub my shins really hard and they feel so much better. I have horrible knees and after a run I always put a bag of peas on them. Best thing ever. I have real ice packs, but they just don’t work the same. Hope you feel better soon.
I love the frugal way of curing shin splints
I hope that they continue to feel better!
I have a big work week, too – but then BREAK! I’m jealous of this NYC blogger meet-up. It sounds like so much fun!
Love that you switched up breakfast. I’ve never tried the European yogurt before but I’m very intrigued!
I’m getting shin splints too! I just bought arch supports yesterday for my running sneaks so hopefully they help
I wish I could go to the NYC meetup (I live in NY but I’ll be coaching that weekend!) Definitely the next one I want to get to though! Have an awesome Sunday!!
Dude we totally sport the frozen veggies in this house as well! And you know what else works? Put some dish soap in a baggie and freeze it. It doesn’t freeze totally solid so it conforms to your leg (or whatever you are icing). When it’s thawed, you just toss it back in the freezer.
Keep takin’ care of those legs girl!
I love shrimp recipes, so simple, so quick, and SO delicious.
Briefing cases is the worst and law school is brutes. Don’t do it. Sorry Mom.
Love your homemade shin splints treatment. I hope it works!
I’m going!

Chocolate, raspberries, and beer? Now that’s my kind of night!
Good luck with your work. You’re in the final stretch!
